Description

What is it? The Vented Fleece Full-Face Balaclava is a one-piece winter hood for cold, windy days. Soft fleece covers your head, ears, face and neck, leaving one opening for your eyes.

Over the nose and mouth sits a shaped breath panel with vent slots on the front and sides, so warm breath has somewhere to go instead of soaking into the fabric in front of your mouth.

The long neck section tucks under a jacket collar to close the gap at your throat. Wear it under a ski or bike helmet, or on its own for snow shoveling, dog walks and winter work.

Is it heated? No. It has no batteries, wires or heating elements. The warmth comes from fleece covering your head, face and neck, and from the long neck you tuck into your collar.

Who makes it? FrostShield Gear balaclavas are sold and shipped by Starlit Grace (starlitgrace.com) within the United States.

Why it stands out

Not a damp patch of fleece. A vented panel over your mouth.

With a plain fleece balaclava, breath passes through fabric that gets damp and cold over the mouth. A neck gaiter and beanie leave a gap at the cheeks and ears and slip apart.

FULL COVERAGE

The extended neck panel tucks into a jacket or base layer, so cold air cannot sneak in at the throat when you turn your head or lean into the wind.

Frequently asked questions

What is a vented balaclava?

It is a one-piece fleece hood that covers your head, face and neck with one eye opening, plus a shaped panel over the nose and mouth. The panel has vent slots, so your breath has a way out instead of soaking into the fabric in front of your mouth on cold days.

Is this a heated balaclava?

No. This balaclava is not heated: it has no batteries, wires or heating elements, and nothing to charge. It keeps you warm the simple way, with soft fleece over your head, ears, face and neck, and a long neck section you tuck into your jacket collar to block cold air.

How warm is it?

We do not publish a temperature rating. Warmth comes from fleece covering your whole head, face and neck in one piece, with only one eye opening, and from the long neck that closes the gap at your collar. For very cold or windy days, layer it under a helmet or hood.

Is it breathable, and how do the vents work?

Yes, that is the point of the design. A shaped panel over your nose and mouth has vent slots on the front and sides, so warm breath has a way out instead of soaking the fleece in front of your mouth. The fleece around the panel keeps wind off your face.

Will it fit under my ski or bike helmet?

It is a close-fitting fleece hood, so most people wear it under ski, snowboard and bike helmets. Helmet sizes and shapes vary, so try it with your helmet when it arrives. If it does not work for you, you can return it within 30 days of delivery.

What size is it?

It is one size, made for adults of any gender. The fleece hood is shaped to fit most adult heads. If you are between sizes on hats or wear a very large helmet size, contact ohtontumy0@outlook.com before ordering and we will help you decide whether it suits you.

What colors are available?

There are three styles: Classic Black, Red Accent with red-trimmed vents, and Skull Camo with a white and grey skull-face panel. Every style has the same one-size fleece hood and vented mouth panel. Bundles ship in one color, so choose the color for each bundle before you add it to cart.

What is it made of?

The hood is fleece, with a shaped mouth and nose panel that has vent slots. We are confirming the exact fiber content with our supplier and will add it here; until then, the care label sewn into each balaclava lists the fabric. Questions? Email ohtontumy0@outlook.com before you order.

Will it keep my goggles or glasses from fogging?

The vents give your breath a way out through the front and sides of the mouth panel rather than trapping it under fleece. Fogging also depends on your goggles, fit and the weather, so we cannot promise fog-free lenses, but the panel is designed to help direct breath away.

How do I wash it?

Please follow the care label sewn into the balaclava. As a general guide, hand wash in cool water with mild soap and let it air dry flat away from direct heat. Avoid bleach and tumble drying so the fleece and the mouth panel keep their shape for longer.

How long does shipping take?

We ship within the United States only. Orders are processed in 1 to 3 business days, then delivery takes 7 to 15 business days. Shipping is $3.90 for a single balaclava and free on our Buy 2 Get 1 and Buy 3 Get 2 bundles, with tracking by email.

Can I return it?

Yes. You have 30 days from delivery to request a return. Email ohtontumy0@outlook.com with your order number and we will guide you through the steps. Items should be unused, unwashed and in their original condition so we can process your return quickly.
